The Explorers Club New England Chapter is pleased to announce a Speaker Series “Sleep in Space: The Next Frontier of Human Health” with Devjoy Dev TM’25. The talk will be held onlineonly, on Monday, April 13, 2026 7:30-8:30pm.

About the Presentation:

From every bed at night to the isolation of orbit, sleep is one of the most essential — and least understood — dimensions of human endurance. This talk explores how microgravity reshapes sleep, what space medicine reveals about the body’s adaptation to extreme environments, and why these insights matter for the future of human health. Through science and stories from Humans of the Sky, it will highlight the people and discoveries defining life beyond Earth.

Devjoy’s talk will be followed with a Q&A. This event is open to members, guests and the public.

This is a zoom event only, please see below for the link.

ABOUT DEVJOY

Devjoy recently received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from New York University (NYU) at the Ramadi Lab of Advanced Neuroengineering and Translational Medicine. His background spans sleep biology, medical device design, gastroenterology, and space health.

He is interested in investigating how neuromodulation can regulate sleep circuitry via the Gut-Brain Axis. He is also exploring the impactful effects of microgravity on our circadian rhythm.

He is an advocate for UK-US science policy collaboration and research communication, driven by topics such as gender inequality and healthcare. Previously, he was a Research Scholar at Harvard Medical School, after which he graduated with a Master’s degree from Imperial College London, UK.

Outside the lab, he is a keen rower, reader, and hackathon participant, having previously won the Harvard iGEM BioHackathon and MIT Hacking Medicine Grand Hack multiple times.

Devjoy is a former Stage Magician, performing magic for over 10 years to audiences as large as 300 across the UK and India. Currently, he’s a Science Communication Fellow at the Museum of Science, Boston, and is a member of the Space Surgery Association, AsMA, the New York Academy of Science, and OSMED.
