We are excited to announce a special TECNE member opportunity, hosted by chapter member Raymond Minami (Ray) MN '09, who serves as Petty Officer and Chief Public Affairs Officer for the U.S.S. Constitution. Several times a year the Constitution sails from its berth in Charlestown, and Ray has invited TECNE members to join him and the crew for one of these rare occasions to sail around greater Boston Harbor out to Castle Island and back.
We will board precisely at 9am, and at 10am will sail out into Boston Harbor, returning at approximately 1PM. There are 20 spots available, with first preference going to members. (If you wish to be considered to bring a guest, please note their name, and full information on the sign up sheet. Guests will be added only if there are not enough members signed up when registration closes July 10th.)
There is no fee for this excursion.
The Constitution is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat, launched in 1797 in Boston. The ship earned its nickname "Old Ironsides" for its resilience. It's currently located at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, MA. The Constitution is still in operation, with a crew of active-duty U.S. Navy sailors. The ship is maintained by the United States Navy and serves as a living museum, welcoming over 500,000 visitors annually. It serves as a symbol of American maritime history and is designated as America's "Ship of State," according to the National Park Service.
After the sail, we plan to adjourn for food and drink to the Dovetail Restaurant, a short walk away, with a full service menu and lovely outdoor patio.
**Please dress for the weather, including hat and sunscreen if needed. Touring the lower deck requires taking steep ladders and ducking/stepping over nautical elements, so wear comfortable clothing, specifically shoes.
***Should inclement weather (lightning) interfere, the cruise will be postponed, and our alternative date will be 9/19.

Sign ups for this event must be completed by July 10th
The USS Constitution Museum does not have dedicated visitor parking. For this reason, we recommend using the Nautica Parking Garage for parking when visiting the Museum or Ship. The address for the Nautica Parking Garage is 88 Constitution Road, Boston, MA 02129. The Museum is able to offer validation for parking at the Nautica Parking Garage.
And if desired, those interested can visit the USS Constitution Museum, located nearby and providing educational exhibits about the ship's history. (Open Daily 9:30 am – 5:00 pm, with a standard entrance fee.)
